Coffee is often sourced from countries where environmental and labor standards may differ from those applicable in Germany. That’s why we rely on independent certification programs. These programs set requirements for coffee production and supply chains and include regular audits and verification processes. This helps create greater transparency and allows compliance with the respective standards to be assessed. Every one of our coffees is certified according to at least one of the sustainability standards listed below.

Fairtrade

The independently audited Fairtrade mark stands for fair trade as well as high environmental and climate-protection standards. It empowers small farmers and workers in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Fairtrade promotes better labour and living conditions by requiring the payment of stable minimum prices as well as the “Fairtrade premium” for community projects.

Fair Trade USATM

The Fair Trade label stands for fair trade and thus humane living and working conditions in emerging and developing countries. For our coffee, that means: fair payment, stable minimum prices and high environmental standards. More broadly, we aim to improve the standard of living for coffee farmers and their families. This is why we support stable minimum prices and additional Fair Trade premiums.

Organic

The cultivation and processing of raw coffee takes place according to stringent organic farming requirements (DE-ÖKO-001).

Organic coffee is often also Fairtrade-certified. That means steps are being taken to improve people’s lives as well as protect the environment.

Rainforest Alliance

UTZ and Rainforest are two certification programmes that have now joined forces under the umbrella of the Rainforest Alliance.
By purchasing raw materials certified by the Rainforest Alliance, we are supporting sustainable farming.

Quality & product safety

Alongside sustainability certifications for our green coffee, we follow additional recognized standards that set requirements for food safety, quality assurance, and product-specific attributes.

IFS

We are an IFS-certified company. Certification by International Featured Standards guarantees that our products meet high standards of quality and safety. Regular audits are conducted to ensure that all the requirements are met.

Kosher

We are Kosher-certified (OU) too and can sell kosher coffee.

Processes & management systems

Our standards go beyond green coffee sourcing. At our production site, we work in accordance with recognized management standards that provide structured approaches to managing energy and environmental aspects in our roasting operations.

Energy management

Our energy management system is certified according to the international ISO 50001 standard. The standard provides a structured approach to monitoring energy-related data, analyzing energy use and consumption, and implementing measures for the continuous improvement of energy performance. One example is the combined heat and power (CHP) plant at our site, which supplies both heat and electricity.

ISO 45001 is an internationally recognized standard for occupational health and safety management. It provides a structured framework for identifying workplace risks and implementing measures that support safe and healthy working conditions. Our certification demonstrates that our occupational health and safety management system is aligned with the requirements of the standard and is regularly verified through independent audits.
